Strasbourg, International Symposium

Attra_189 The University March Bloch of Strasbourg organized an international Symposium on "Cultural pluralism in the contemporary Arabo-Moslems societies."  This Symposium was held from the 2 through the 3 April, 2007, in the University Palate. There were 24 members, professors and research workers. They showed that The Arab society is pluralist, as for the culture.  Indeed, Kurds, Assyro-Chaldeans, Turkmens and Kabyles who lived in the Arab countries enriched the Arab culture by their own geniuses, their languages, their inheritances.

I gave a lecture on five Assyro-Chaldean-Syriac pioneers, who were at the origin of the renewal (Nahda) in Iraq : Anastase al-karmali (1866-1947), Mariam Narmi (1890-1966), Raphaël Batti (1901-1950), Youssif Qelyta (?-1955), Gorgis Awad (1908-1992).  I did not forget several Iraqi Christians, who animated the beginnings of the Iraqi society and inspired it in its political, economic, and social dimensions. They worked to build a modern State, opened to the world.
